How many times have you found yourself in love with a new show only to find out that the network has done the most stupid thing possible and cancelled it? Does this sound familiar? Many of us moaned, groaned and stomped our feet when Firefly was cancelled to no avail. A few years later the amazing Joss Whedon was given the chance to re-visit the crew and produced the great film Serenity to satisfy our hunger (for the meantime).

Since then, nothing has happened and many of us Joss Whedon/Firefly fans have been left wanting. Yes, of course we are loving what Joss is giving us at the moment – The Avengers movies, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D series and a couple of Astonishing X-Men videos – but is this really enough?

Fear not, his brother Zack has come to the rescue! In an announcement on Thursday, Zack and Dark Horse comics have swooped in to give us a treat for the new year. On January 29th the first issue of Serenity: Leaves on the Wind will hit the shelves.

Zack will be taking over the writing helm on this comic series, whilst artwork will be provided by Georges Jeanty (the same artist who crafted Buffy the comic). Joss has said that he’s not meddling with this representation of his well-loved characters – now that’s brotherly trust – although it’s no surprise considering just how busy he must be with The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The only teaser anyone has given is that the comics will be set about 9 months after the end of the Serenity film…I can only assume that means we won’t be seeing Zack bring Wash back from the dead, highly disappointing to this geek who loves Alan Tudyk!

I guess the only thing left to do now is wait with bated breath…

The one subject I always find hard to write about is myself, so thankfully a fellow geek friend of mine gave it a shot. "Gem is the geek you all want to meet. She's into comic books, retro gaming, zombie and sci fi movies, the Big Bang Theory, and Tolkien, (she even has the badge to prove it!) to name but a few. Aside from being extremely passionate about it, she has the amazing ability to look at everything from an outside perspective, her reviews are professional and accurate. Despite her love for all that is geeky, she'll mercilessly point out all the flaws and shortcomings of whatever she is giving her opinion on. If there is a geek you should trust, it's definitely her!"

Wow, I love firefly. Can’t wait for this, though I would have loved it if they brought back wash but that would have changed the time line. Shame as he was my favourite character, specially with those dinosaurs. :)
